In just a few days, many of us in the industry will be gathering at the Oregon Convention Center to participate in the Craft Brewer’s Conference.

With over 80 seminars, 15 sponsored demonstrations, and over 600 exhibitors this year, we all certainly have our work cut out for us.

One of the things I am most excited about and one topic I know I’ll be covering, exporting American craft beer!  There are over 10,000 craft beer professionals coming together, from all over the world, and I can’t wait to meet some of them and talk to them. Many of the women I know that are coming in from overseas are Pink Boots Society members.  There’s Ingeborn “Inga” Lindheim, who’s coming in from Norway, Alexandra “Alex” Iunes from Cerverjeria Backer from Brazil, Betha Lovato & Alex Violette (former Upslope‘rs, now in Vietnam), and that’s barely scratching the surface!

A few seminars I know I will be looking to attend are below. They are ALL located at the Level 2 Portland Ballroom – section 254.

1.) Exporting Beer Logistics: Wednesday, April 15th, from 1:20 – 2:20 pm

2.) Exporting to Germany: Wednesday, April 15th, from 2:40 – 3:40 pm

3.)  Exporting to Taiwan: Thursday, April 16th,  from 9:00 to 10:00 am

4.) Exporting to Canada:  Thursday, April 16th, from 1:20 to 2:20 pm

I recently got the chance to sit down and talk to Julia Herz, the Craft Beer program director for the Brewers Association about the different ways that the BA advises craft brewers to get involved in international markets and expand their brand.  One of the ways the BA supports craft breweries is with their Export Development Program, or EDP they call it.  Throughout the year, new data is released on export market analysis and they coordinate the EDP Awards Ceremony each year.  As BA members, brewers are able to submit beer for international competitions that help breweries gain exposure and gain critical feedback from international judges, or judges new to their brand.

At the 2015 Craft Brewers Conference in Portland, OR the Brewers Association Export Development Program will recognize the Export Development Program brewery members who won awards at the following international competitions:

• 2014 Australian International Beer Awards

• 2014 European Beer Star (Germany)

• 2014 Brussels Beer Challenge

• 2014 Stockholm Beer & Whiskey Festival

For a list of award winning breweries in 2014, please go to Export Development Program Competition Results page.

Another seminar that is also pretty closely related and will feature Dave Cole (EPIC Brewing Company Co-founder & Owner) is:
5.) Assessing Your Markets: How Do You Truly know How Your Beer is Doing? – in the Level 2 Portland Ballroom 251 & 258

I’ll be covering the conference as much as possible with photos and podcast interviews to share with you all during the week. I’ll also be launching merchandise, so stop me if you see me in the Oregon Convention Center halls. I have some cool new swag on my SHOP and I’ll have items on me.
